So, I've just sold off a bunch of my old Warmachine minis, and I'm getting ready to place an order for a lot of the Grey Alien minis to form an Irken invasion force for Warhammer 40,000 using the Tau rules. I've found miniatures to represent the Megadoomer (Hasslefree's Grymm Walker), the Irken (A7D12 Grey Aliens) and my SIR units (Hydra Miniatures' Minibots with resculpted heads). Now I need something to represent my Riptide. I was thinking I would make to look like the giant robot Zim uses to ruin "Operation Impending Doom" in the first episode.

I considered altering Gundam Zaku models, but which to use? It has to be big enough to convincingly fill a GW oval base. Even better, if you guys (in all your miniatures knowledge) could point me toward something even closer or cooler...

Thanks in advance for any possible help, and I'm sorry I couldn't find a better image, but that's honestly the only one I found.

140 isnt that much of a stretch past the Colossal price... or the Riptide kit, either.

Yeah, $140 is a touch above my budget...

I did find this, however:

I was thinking of finding something to replace the head to make it more dome-like, and tweaking the power plant on the back to make it more streamlined. The sword would have to go too. I could replace that with a missile pod of some description, or maybe some other gun (plasma sounds pretty good).

I'll have to measure stuff when I get home to see if 4.5" is tall enough, but next to the Greys it should look pretty big.

What do y'all think?

Oh, HeadZombie better have plenty of pewter, I just sent in my order for my Grey Aliens a moment ago. Wink

That would have been about perfect, except I'm not in on the Kickstarter, nor am I patient enough to wait for their production. Though I may change my tune once they're released, but knowing Mantic that will be none too soon.

You could try something like this or this.

Both are from Khurasan Miniatures. Nice guy, good work, clean casts, decent prices, hard to find what you are looking for on the website. For that second walker, you could take the head off and put on a clear plastic dome. I'm not sure of the scale on that bad boy, but I think it is probably nosing into the right size for a Riptide.

Here is a link to the appropriate product page.

Scroll way down and you'll find it. The model is 100mm tall, or about 4 inches. That's probably short for a Riptide, which I would hazard to guess is something like 6 inches tall? However, people tend to model the thing in dynamic poses, kneeling and whatnot, so it would probably be okay. Anyway, something to consider.
