So far, my imagination for Kryst terrain matches many of the wild terrain of colonial gaming. Desert, rocks, rock spires, dusty buildings.

What else? What would be unique? I'll need some termite mounds, which I think will look better in Kryst than in my not-quite-Normandy of wherever our Coftyrans and Crusaders have been fighting. (We're planning to put in some hives there--more cultivated.)

Would there be ground cover in places? There has to be a way to make food somewhere. Fields of long brown grass like African plains? Something like palm trees?

I can finally use some of the scenery ideas from The Major General's page. If you don't know it, it was one of the best gaming sites ever. It is gone, but still available via web archive.

Hmm, well, I think dried vegetation would be one good way to go, in addition to all the rocks. You could have desert trees like ironwood and Joshua trees, lower shrubs like yucca, cactus, and so on. If you're feeling particularly ambitious, maybe a faerf skeleton? Large animal skeletons seem to be a staple of fantasy desert landscapes. Perhaps also an oasis?

CNC miniatures sand series of buildings and their guard towers make great desert terrain.
