Well after about a year I've finally painted one of these guys! I've only got the preview pack, but will eventually be building up an army. Here's my test mini for the army's color scheme. Tartan might be a little too labor intensive to do on all of them, but it didn't take to long on this guy, does look a bit rough on close inspection, though:

Enjoy!

Nice! He looks really tall in your photo, but I know that's not the case. If the tartan is too much for the whole army, you could just do it on a single unit, or reserve it for characters.

(You're ahead of me, btw, and I bought a small army of Vidaar!)

I'm hoping that as traditionally Zombiesmith has a new book for sale at Kublacon, this year's will be WoA: Shieldwall. Very Happy

Thanks, guys! Glad you like the tartan, I'll at least maintain it for the characters and maybe an elite unit, but if it's not too much trouble I'll probably go ahead and do it on everyone.

Just got back from one trip, and heading to London soon, so not sure when I'll get to the others.

Well about a year later, and I've got more painted! I'll use this thread for all of my WoA minis, as I finish them.

Sorry for the poor lighting, taken on an iPhone, so I'm relying on natural lighting in my apartment (I need to get a new battery charger for my camera...)

Captain and 2 Greybucks:

Wildbucks and Savagebuck:

Armored Linebucks:

Spearbucks:

That tartan pattern goes pretty quickly, really. I probably won't use it on the whole army or anything, but interspersed among all of them like you see in this selection. I've got about 5 more linebucks painted, so maybe I'll attempt a group shot at some point soon!

Jaarl attack!

Armor is a nod to the Harryhausen Argonauts, so I also decided to give mine round shields to fit the more Greek look. I tried some free-hand Ilk on their shields - turned out alright!

First two stands of Kuld:

Also just realized I haven't posted my Atronians, so I'll try to snap a photo if them soon!

It's high time I added some photos to this plog!

Sorry for the inconsistent photo quality, quick shots on a variety of devices.

These look great. Are you really doing all of the Shieldwall armies? That is a crazy amount of lead to paint. I'm still behind on my small band of 10.

Oh heavens no!

At least, not off the bat. It's my goal to have a playable 300 or so points of every faction in Shieldbash, but the only full-blown Shieldwall army I have right now is Elvorix. I think, for a second Shieldwall army, I'd build the Kuld up (they're easy to paint!). After that, maybe Jaarl, and I guess finally Vidaar. That's getting ahead of myself, though, considering I'm nowhere close to having my full Elvorix army painted!

The bases on those look fantastic. I like the icy dead of winter look of them. Your paint jobs help bring out the creepy and fun feel of the minis. I have some of my own coming soon. Keep up the good work.

Thanks, eviljim!

I wasn't too sure on the bases at first, but they've grown on me. Unfortunately I don't have a board or any terrain that matches them, but one day.

It did occur to me that the winter bases might be a bit odd on the cold-blooded Ki-kak, but I think it would look to anachronistic to base them any other way, so I'll stick with it. Which reminds me, I need to build and paint my Ki-kak (and several other WoA minis)...

I will also try to post a photo of my Atronians soon! They were done a long time ago, but somehow never made it up here.
