|
|
Hey all!
Brand new to the Quarverse, I picked up SoA and a Crusader starter pack the other night and got started on building:
First up is the Yawdryl - only minor additions (extra pouches from Bolt Action British infantry):
Yawdryl front
Yawdryl back
The Ryshis, again a few added pouches but otherwise nothing too special:
Front
Back
And lastly the Bogen rhyflers, I gave them spades so they look prepped for trench warfare, and I cut away the arm on one and repositioned it so his hand is resting on his spade which is stuck in the ground:
Bogens
I wanted to give the impression that they're all overloaded with rations and supplies, so I added at least an extra belt of pouches or canister each. This way they look like they've been on the front for some time, maybe behind enemy lines or with limited support or supplies.
I'm short on spray primer and white glue, so I'll have to pick some up and hopefully I can sand their bases tonight, and get started on painting them this weekend.
Looking forward to seeing some of you folks at EndGame on Tuesdays!
EDIT: hmm, couldn't get pictures to work, but here are the links.

Adding knives. Orkdung will love that. _________________ You can always count on Alykinder to do the right thing ... after he's tried everything else. |

First two painted Crusaders - one rhyfler with a bogen and another with a ryshi:
Painted Rhyflers
Pretty traditional colors for Crusaders, but I like the green/brown combo. Just missing some flock (which I'm also out of, I just discovered last night) and then they'll be ready to hit the table!
Hopefully more to come soonish, we'll see how much painting I get done this week. |

Lovely lads.
Hope they make it through their first big push!

Very nice! I really like the guy with the shovel.
Those collars are very white - does anyone know if Quar sweat? Or do they pant? ;o)
Excellent job, buddy. I wish mine turned out that well |

Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys!

Hmm, if my demo games against Anthony are any indication I wouldn't cross my fingers for any Quar under my command...

Haha, yeah, they did come up super-bright white (and as usual, pictures illuminate all the flaws that my slowly failing eyes miss). I'm not sure yet whether I'd like to re-do them in a slightly darker tone or not, we'll see what I settle on though. |

I'd do a quick re-work, do a tan/light brown and dry brush up to white at the tips of the collars.
Beige or sand being your mid tone.

Per Orkdung's suggestion, but a lazy man's way, could I suggest a quick and easy wash of some khaki and then a drybrush of stone or khaki highlight? Mind the border between the collar and the jacket - you'll want that prounounced.
Wash with delvan mud around the edges, then GW's kommando khaki as a main coat and highlight with KK mixed with stone or white. That khaki would look nice over that white base color.
Just an idea. Wonderful work, though! |

My paint stash is somewhat limited, so I'll have to mix up some equivalents but I'll probably tone those down a bit either this evening if I have a chance, or tomorrow. Expect another Rhyfler or two tomorrow evening, as well! |

Yup, nothin' wrong with mixin'.
Thats what most Fidwoggers say on the frontline as they are brewing up their finest Bogen barrel scotch.

They've spent too much time underground if they think anything distilled in used gun parts could be considered 'fine'. Just keep swilling your rotgut and postponing the inevitable, Fiddie.
These quar look great, Twm. Love the conversions and especially the extra gear. Consider the shovel idea stolen. |
